The Heartsease is the wild pansy, its old name was ‘Jump’ up and kiss me. Isn’t that the response you want from the person you give a special cake too. Andrew and Nadine were looking at rebranding their business and were after a completely new look. Andrew liked the idea of having something slightly ‘out there’ less conventional, almost jovial, a way to represent the kind of cakes he makes for his clients.
My part of the project
Given a very free brief with just a few key details the project was handed over to me to create something that showed what Heartsease was about. The only criteria was that…
- It needed to include a ‘Heartsease’ pansy
- Think Sleepy Hollow meets Harry Potter meets Alice in Wonderland and then add a little more… something!
The wonderful thing with Heartsease Cakes was the ability to define exactly what they do within their company name, highlighting ART AS CAKES made perfect sense for this project.
The results were better than I could have hoped and both Andrew and Nadine were very pleased with what we created together. I have to say that the biscuits baked by Andrew at the first meeting were incredible and his cakes are something to behold! Their new website is being built by iLlateral, based in the Forest of Dean who introduced Andrew and Nadine to me when they were looking for a designer to work with to create the visuals to go into the site their new site.
